Not only does it look bad, but it is more difficult to play your piano with missing keytops. Today having your keytops replaced is quick and affordable. In 2 to 3 days you can be playing again with beautiful plastic or faux ivory keys.
Worn out or missing hammers certainly makes for an unsatisfactory playing experience. Notes either don't play or sound unpleasing to the ear. Sometimes all that is necessary is reshaping and voicing your hammers, while other times hammers have lived their life cycle. Depending on the work required to have your piano singing beautifully again, reshaping and voicing be done in one day, while a new set of hammers can as little as 2 days. After any work is done to your hammers a complete regulation is necessary in order to have your action playing well.
There are several things that could be causing a note not to play correctly - The key itself is not moving properly, one or more of several hinges in the action are too loose or tight, or the piano is out of regulation. Rebushing keys, repinning flanges (hinges), or fixing broken parts can take as little as 15 minutes, depending on the cause of the problem. Don't let "sticking keys" on your piano be the cause of grief any longer.
